Microneedling

Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) uses tiny sterile needles that cause micro injuries to the skin in order to oxygenate and repair conditions like: fine lines and wrinkles, loss of elasticity, pore size, hyperpigmentation, scarring and stretch marks. Microneedling triggers the skin’s own native rejuvenation process and is therefore completely natural. The micropen uses vertical stamping with a sterilized and disposable tip, entering the skin at professional depths. Hyaluronic acid and peptides are applied topically and absorbed deeply into the skin through the micro-channels created. Best results are seen with multiple treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Microneedling cannot be performed on clients with active acne, cold sores, or warts. Immunocompromised people are not eligible for this treatment. Please refer to pre and post treatment instructions for a full description of how to prepare and what to expect during the healing process.

    • If you have a history of cold sores, microneedling could induce a flare up. Try using a lysine preparation, prior to your treatment. You can also ask your doctor about taking antiviral medication.

    • Hydrate! Microneedling can rob your skin of moisture, drinking plenty of water ensures that your skin will stay supple and heal quickly.

    • Stay away from products containing vitamin A, topical antibiotics, hydroquinone, or benzoyl peroxide for at least five days before your treatment.

    • Gently exfoliate 3 days before your appointment, to ensure the needles will effectively penetrate the skin.

    • Be sure to tell your Esthetician about any significant changes you notice leading up to your treatment. This might include a breakout, excessive dryness, or even sunburn.

    • Please delay scheduling until 2 weeks after botox and 4 weeks after filler injections.

  • Directly after your treatment, you may feel like you have a severe sunburn.  Your skin will likely feel warm and tight, these are normal side effects of the procedure that will fade within 24 hours.  The deepest needles might also cause some minor bleeding, swelling, or bruising.  All inflammation will fade within a few days, at which point you’ll likely notice your skin starting to flake and peel.  Peeling can last up to 5 days, moisturize and drink plenty of water to support the skin.  Avoid scrubs or masks until you’ve finished shedding.

    • For the first 24 hours, leave skin inflamed and untreated as much as possible.  The inflammation will alert your immune system that your skin needs a surge of collagen for healing.

    • Avoid sweating, exposing the skin to the sun, or heat of any kind within the first 24 hours.

    • After 24 hours, you may rinse the face with tepid water and apply a gentle moisturizer as often as needed.

    • Protect the skin from bacteria by using clean towels & linens throughout the healing process.

    • Avoid SPF, makeup, or oil cleansing within the first 48 hours to allow the skin to breathe.

    • Oil cleansing works well to gently massage dead skin off, once the skin starts shedding.

    • Diligently wear SPF after 48 hours, if you must be exposed to the sun.

    • You may resume your regular skincare routine once the skin stops peeling.  Reintroduce active products (retinol, BHA & AHA) 5 days after inflammation and peeling cease.
